Do The Verb

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If you want to be the noun, you first have to do the verb.

So many people focus on what they want to be, rather than what they need to do and forget…

‘the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary’

The first time I heard that quote I was about 12 years old. It was said by Wazim, a radio presenter on the Brixton Broadcasting Corporation at the end of his show, just before he handed over to the next DJ, Delbert Wilkins.

OK, so Delbert Wilkins, Wazim and the Brixton Broadcasting Corporation are all fiction, but my experience tells me that quote (often attributed to the American football coach Vince Lombardi) is definitely FACT.

If you want to master something, then you have to put in the work.

Stop trying to find the short cut.

If you want to be the thing, you have to do the steps it takes to become the thing.

If you want to be a pianist, you’ve got to play a piano. If you want to be a runner, you need to run. If you want to be a business person, you’ve got to run a business. If you want be a content creator, you’ve got to create content.

Whatever you thing is… START.

And remember, Done Beats Perfect.
